Yoon Byungryeol (尹秉烈), who was mobilized to Kamui Ccoal mMine, at the Sorachi mining station of Hokkaido Colliery & Steamship Co., Ltd. in Hokkaido, Japan, brought these shoes with him when he returned. Jikatabi (じかたび) wereas common working shoes forused by physical laborers at that time, q-and were also given thattheir name because they were applicable toworn on stockinged feet with no overshoes. Both the cover parts for the big toes q-and others were separated q-from the others so that the Jikatabi is comfortable to withstq-and the earth’s surface. Theseis kind of shoes are now commonly seen on construction sites in Japan.
