Background of Establishment

In Korean War 50th Anniversary International Sculpture Symposium, sculptors from 21 countries sent troops participated with their artworks, and 34 of them were donated. UN Sculpture Park was created by locating the statues to raise UN Memorial Park’s scenery, in addition to standing out the Park as the symbol of world peace & freedom, where is the only place enshrined the deceased spirits of UN Forces on Korean War.

Creation of Park

  • 2000.3.6 : Secured a site for UN Sculpture Park, and obtained approval by UN MCK
  • 2000.9.15~9.30 : Held Korean War 50th Anniversary International Sculpture Symposium
  • 2000.10.24 : Dedication Ceremony of International Sculpture Symposium (displayed 29 artwork temporarily)
  • 2001.3.16~5.23 : Embarked on design of UN Sculpture Park
  • 2001.4.9~계속 : Started UN Sculpture Park creation by public utility work
  • 2001.10.24 : UN Sculpture Park creating completion ceremony
